An Unexpected Evening in San Francisco
Some travel memories are planned. Others just happen.
During a 2012 trip to San Francisco, my wife and I ended up at the Marrakech Magic Theater for a performance by magician Peter Morrison. It was not the kind of attraction most people immediately think of when they picture San Francisco, but that is exactly what made it memorable.
Sometimes the smaller, unexpected stops become the memories that last the longest.
More Than Just a Magic Show
Watching magic live is different from watching it on television or online. The audience interaction, timing, humor, and atmosphere all matter.
There is something fun about being close enough to know you are being fooled, but still not being able to explain how it happened.
That is what made this performance worth preserving.
Why I’m Glad I Recorded It
This video sat in my personal archives for years before I finally uploaded it to YouTube.
Like many people, I have collected years of old photos and videos across hard drives, DVDs, computers, phones, and backups. Some files are easy to forget about until you start digging through the archive.
This was one of those rediscovered memories.
Technology Preserves More Than Files

Sometimes technology preserves experiences.
The camera quality from 2012 may not match today’s standards, but that is not the point. The memory survived, and that matters more than resolution.
