This Oysterette Snacks recipe comes from the Snacks divider in My Mom’s Recipe Box. The printed magazine clipping was stapled to a larger white card and includes the original Parmesan and garlic recipe along with four flavor variations.

Ingredients

  • 1 12-ounce package oyster crackers
  • ⅔ cup cooking oil
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder

Directions

Place crackers in a large self-sealing plastic bag. Add oil. Seal and turn from side to side until the crackers are coated. Add Parmesan cheese and garlic powder. Seal bag and turn from side to side until coated.

Yield

Makes 5½ to 6 cups crackers.

Flavor Variations

Prepare recipe as above. Add seasonings as desired.

  • Italian: For each rounded cup of snack mix, sprinkle and stir in ¼ teaspoon dried Italian seasoning, crushed.
  • Cajun: For each rounded cup of snack mix, sprinkle and stir in ¼ teaspoon Cajun seasoning.
  • Curry: For each rounded cup of snack mix, sprinkle and stir in ¼ teaspoon curry powder.
  • Pepper-Dill: For each rounded cup of snack mix, sprinkle and stir in ¼ teaspoon lemon pepper seasoning and ⅛ teaspoon dried dill weed.
